I am procrastinating. Yes, you read that correctly. In fact, I am the Queen of Procrastination if we really want to delve into it.
Many of my friends would probably argue with me on this, but procrastination is always there – evilly waiting for me to listen to it. A lot of the time I am strong, and press the Mute button to prevent Procrastination from interfering – but not recently. As some of you would have guessed, I am a writer. But life has been seriously getting in the way of writing since December. And frankly, this puts me in a bit of a bind. I promised myself, and a few other people that I would have the second book of an Urban Fantasy series drafted by the end of February… and am I there yet? Nope. Procrastination got in the way….. once again.
So now I have to try and get this book finished, but first of all, I did promise myself the grace to get some editing done on it first. You see, Procrastination wanted me to regroup about the plot, characters, and where I was taking this story.
So I regrouped, sought feedback from my step-sister, and I even hard-copy edited. Now I have to physically make the changes in my manuscript. ‘In there lies the problem’, Procrastination whispers in my ear.
And here I am with this blog. Procrastination thought that it would be a great idea if I got this out of the way so that I wouldn’t have to deal with it later. And like a good Queen of Procrastination – I listened. Now I am dreaming about new blogs to write instead of editing.
But you know what? I’m pretty pleased that Procrastination stepped in this time, because I have learnt an awful lot about myself, what the amazing support people around me think, and about creative personal branding – and that’s just in the last three days! By putting this blog out there… means that I am now holding myself accountable. So, here’s a big thank you Mr Procrastination – for putting my writing off…again, and for opening my eyes to this wonderful new world of blogging!
Great post Leigh! Love the look of your blog and I know you will develop a reputable creative platform. Now I am going to be the voice of prompting and say get thee to thy series….Good Luck Chicka! Holding thumbs for you and sprinkling magical writing seeds on your WIP…x

I think that we all procrastinate at times… and it’s not that we don’t want to ‘do’ whatever we have to do…. I just think that I produce better quality of work if I place a little bit of pressure on myself.

… and I too will echo the fabulous words of last_lines “get thee to thy series.” Inspiring posts about procrastination will not get the editing done sweet-pea.
